Classical reformer · Boutique studio

A small room.
A serious practice.

Six reformers on Montana Avenue, run on the classical order Joseph Pilates wrote down. No microphones. No mirrors marketed as accountability. Just the work, in the proper sequence, with an instructor close enough to correct your shoulder by name.

— The studio rule —
Six reformers.
Six people.
Ever.

No waitlists stacked twelve deep. No extra mats squeezed onto the floor at peak. The cap is the cap — written into the lease, not the marketing.

— 01 / Method

What classical Pilates actually means.

Joseph Pilates designed an order of exercises, on specific apparatus, in a specific sequence — and that sequence is the method. Not a vibe, not a vague philosophy.

Most studios today teach contemporary Pilates: a buffet of moves cherry-picked from the original work, mixed with foam rollers, dance cues, and choreography invented after 2008. It's good exercise. It is not the method.

We teach the order. Footwork, hundred, overhead, coordination, rowing, long box, short box, long stretch series, knee stretches, running, pelvic lift — in that sequence, every class, because the sequence is what builds the body Joseph said it would build.

It is, frankly, harder. The exercises are unglamorous and there is no music drop at minute forty. You will spend three classes learning to do the footwork properly before we move on. That's the point.

If you've done Pilates at a chain studio and never quite "got it," there's a chance you weren't doing Pilates. Come try it the way it was written.

Three teachers. All comprehensively certified. No exceptions.

— Founder & Director

Anya Veldt

Romana's Pilates · 600-hr comprehensive

Trained under Romana Kryzanowska's lineage in New York before moving west. Anya opened Lotus in 2014 with a single condition from her landlord: no more than six reformers on the floor, ever.

She teaches the beginner ladder and runs apprenticeships. If you are brand new, you are almost certainly starting with Anya.

— 18 years teaching
— Senior Instructor

Camille Roeg

Classical Pilates Institute · 500-hr

Former ballet dancer with the Joffrey. Camille's classes move with the unhurried metronome of someone who counted bars for a living — every transition rehearsed, no wasted motion between exercises.

She runs the early morning Mixed Reformer block and most of the privates. She is patient, exacting, and quiet.

— 12 years teaching
— Instructor

Henrik Sato

Power Pilates · 450-hr comprehensive

Came to Pilates after a cycling injury and a frustrating year of physical therapy that didn't work. Henrik teaches the mat program and the evening reformer sessions — strong, breath-led, and unsentimental about effort.

If you are returning from injury or a long break, ask for him.
